I've had my bike since 2009 and done things with her that would have easily land me in jail (I know you all relate to this). Usually I have my sixth sense in play looking for places where Troopers could nail me and it has worked for 3 yrs. You guys know that feeling you get to just slow down because you've been pushin extremes for awhile and right when you do a cop appears but your good because you dropped the speed enough. Well this worked all up until this past Sunday.....
Towards the end of a drama free ride in the NH mountains, I am on the interstate heading home when a big bore Harley rides onto the hwy, blasting his pipes to catch me. Now I already had a full day of riding twisties and full throttle romps, so I'm really in the chill mode at this point cruising around the posted speed limited of 65 MPH. However this Harley dude with a MC patch vest - no shirt - no helmut tempts me because I know he is trying to check me with his Harley. So I allow him to get so close that his pipes are now blastin thru my helmut. I lazily dropped down to 3rd gear and simply blasted him away to triple speeds, then slow down, then blast away and all the time he pushing to catch up. I do this for a few then decide to let him pass because my sixth sense kicks in but it's too late. As he passes me in the left lane, we are both still moving and just where the hwy bends into a turn a Statie is sitting there in the divide. The Harley dude taps his head to signal but too late to slowdown.
At first I didn't think the Statie was going to pursue so I decide to chill (not thinking I was going that fast) while the Harley begins to weave thru traffic not really at high speed but still ahead of me. About two minutes later the Statie catches up and flashes his lights on me. I pull over and he comes out saying do I know how fast I was doing and I honestly reply no...he says 96mph. I say what about the other rider who you clocked first; he says 103 mph and don't worry he being stopped ahead (little did the Statie know the Harley dude slipped in the rest area). Anyways, after saying the usual "I didn't know I was going that fast.. this bike is asleep at that speed" he runs my bike plate & license. After a few minutes, he comes outs and states because I've been cool & honest about everything (didn't run, no smartass remarks), he locked me in at 90mph which doesn't fall under "reckless driving", which would mean court appearance & much bigger fine plus possible jail. So my 1st ZX14 speeding ticket clocks in at $361.00 which is alot but considering 3yrs with pure no drama fun, there's a time you have to pay to play!
